Love social media or loathe it, I’m afraid you need to accept that it’s part of everyday life these days and it’s easy to make it work for your business.
Here are our tips for improving your social media activity:
Formulate a strategy and set goals for what you want to achieve.
Just write down why you want to reach out on social media (brand awareness, social following growth, generating leads etc.)
Identify who is your target audience (B2B, B2C or both) and try to describe them. What is their age, interests and how long can you keep their attention? If they have a short attention span and are on the move, consider using a more image or video approach platform.
Decide on the social media platform to use (considering your target audience) and try not to copy/paste the same post across each one as they are very different in style of communication. Write separately for each platform, keeping it short and snap for Twitter, image/video-led for
Instagram and more business-like to LinkedIn and somewhere in between for Facebook.
Be more human. You are human and so is your audience, right? So, keep it friendly, and genuine and write as if you’re talking to them. It’s a bit of a cliche but people really do buy from people.
Build relationships. Engage with your audience and with similar profiles, like, comment and share their posts. Try to answer quickly or at least in a 24-hour span of time. You’re in for the long haul so don’t expect overnight success, it just doesn’t happen.
Don’t sell in every post. That’s right, just don’t. Entertain, offer advice, educate, engage and then, maybe, sell. You need to provoke awareness and interest first, which might naturally transform into a sale later.
